Chris Sutton’s underwhelming transfer verdict

By 5pm on Transfer Deadline Day Chris Sutton called it out- underwhelming.

And no group of supporters were more underwhelmed than Celtic fans. After securing two more projects relatively early in the transfer window the fans waited for experience to arrive, waited and waited.

When Mikey Johnston picked up a long-term injury at St Johnstone the need for a winger to be signed was increased. With the success of a back three in recent games and the obvious injury records of Jozo Simunovic, Hatem Abd Elhamed and Nir Bitton signing a new central defender seemed an obvious move.

Or was it? Hour after hour passed without any sign of activity, an hour long rumour about Christian Atsu died a death with news about Jordan Rhodes lasting almost as long.

Victor Wanyama was off to France then that was off, Filip Benkovic joined Bristol City and Neil Lennon was left with his two new projects.

Without Scott Sinclair, Lewis Morgan, Mikey Johnston and Moi Elyounoussi winger options are limited at Hamilton tomorrow. Without Simunovic it looks like Celtic will play a back four.

Celtic fans were in agreement with the BT Sport pundit, tomorrow the real action resumes with Sutton on hand to watch the action at Hamilton.
