Neil Lennon has warned the SFA that he will be very disappointed if Leigh Griffiths is cited for an incident during the 4-1 win over Hamilton on Sunday.

The Celtic striker was booked for a first half scuffle involving Sam Woods and Alex Gogic but that’s not enough for certain sections of the media.

‘Trial by Sportscene’ has been replaced by an orchestrated attempt to involve the SFA Compliance Officer with Ally McCoist followed by Steven Thompson and James McFadden with the BBC Scotland website carrying FOUR stories on the same incident.

Referee Nick Walsh viewed the incident in its entirety with Woods rolling towards Griffiths as the Celtic striker attempts to get back involved in play.

Ally McCoist claimed that a similar incident involving Alfredo Morelos would have resulted in a red card despite the obvious comparison with the stamp on Tony Ralston in December 2018.

Last month Jeremie Frimpong was subjected to a very heavy challenge from Kilmarnock’s Alan Power that brought no further action, the young defender has already missed three matches and isn’t expected to resume training until Monday.
