The pain of seeing Celtic close in on a ninth successive title proved too much for Kirk Broadfoot yesterday.
From the stands of Celtic Park the former Rangers defender was well aware that things had gone badly away to St Johnstone but by the time the final whistle blew in Perth Kilmarnock were leading by an Eamonn Brophy penalty.
Kris Ajer equalised for Celtic in the 28th minute but the moment that Broadfoot will have nightmares over was just five minutes away.
When Jozo Simunovic headed a deep cross into the goalmouth Odsonne Edouard pounced but as he edged the ball past Laurentiu Branescu Broadfoot hit the deck and got the final touch to put Celtic in front with his head.

Broadfoot’s reaction was telling. Straight away he launched into a verbal attack on Branescu, it seems that St Mirren aren’t missing that sort of character in their dressing room.
