Steven Gerrard slaughtered his defenders after watching the 2-2 draw with St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park.
With Celtic beating Kilmarnock 3-1 the hoops are now 12 points clear with 10 matches left to play- a swing of 10 points since the winter break.
Nikola Katic was badly at fault for both St Johnstone goals but was given little help from Connor Goldson or captain James Tavernier.
Gerrard signed Katic and Goldson in his first transfer window but after watching today’s defending nightmare it looks like he’ll be looking for a new defensive duo if he survives through until the summer.

Getting a bit sick of teams scoring like 2 from 3 chances recently. Total dross suddenly finishing like good players. Meanwhile we need 10/12 chances for 1 goal. Thats the problem right there

I’m not standing here shocked and surprised, it’s happened here too many times of late. It’s a real big frustrations for this team defensively, I need to find solutions because we are conceding too many goals.
On Wednesday one thing is for sure we are going to have to find a better defensive performance or we’ll be going out of that competition.
Alfredo Morelos is suspended for Wednesday’s match against Braga with today’s goal hero Flo Kamberi cup-tied for Saturday’s Scottish Cup clash against Hearts.
In September Gerrard agreed a £7m fee with Liverpool to sign wing wizard Ryan Kent.
