March 15 had been earmarked by Celtic fans for a title party following the Glasgow derby.

Neil Lennon’s side were strong favourites to extend their lead at the top of the table to 16 points with the home side in disarray on the back of three defeats in their last four matches.

On Friday, just before noon, it was announced that Scottish football had been suspended until further notice leaving thousands of people with empty weekends.

Almost as soon as the SFA and SPFL announced the suspension of football speculation turned to what would with the current season.

Three options have been discussed:

  1. Wait to play the remaining fixtures
  2. Declare the season null and void
  3. The current positions are declared as the final positions

Overnight a number of newspapers appear to have been given details of the latest Coronavirus sanctions with football impacted by ‘mass gatherings.

According to The Sun option 3 is about to become reality which would give Celtic their ninth successive title.

With a 13 point lead- despite having played more difficult fixtures such as two visits to Aberdeen, Livingston and Motherwell- there is no reasonable argument for anything other than declaring the current positions as the final ones.
