A serving DUP councillor has been appointed to head up the communications and media relations department at Ibrox! For balance David Graham is also a member of the Orange Order!

Everyone, Anyone was the slogan created at the start of the season on the back of the first UEFA charge of racism with inclusion, diversity and tolerance unlikely to be associated with the most popular Unionist party in the northern part of Ireland

BBC report:

A DUP councillor is to swap Belfast City Hall for Ibrox after being appointed as head of communications and media relations by Rangers.

David Graham will resign from his position on Belfast City Council to take up the newly-created role at the Glasgow club. Graham was special adviser to Education Minister Peter Weir before the Stormont Assembly collapsed in 2017.

“I am delighted to be joining Rangers,” the former teacher said. “As a lifelong Rangers supporter, it is an honour to work for the world’s most successful football club. When the opportunity arose, I was very pleased to fulfil this role and am looking forward to getting started.

“I am excited by the board’s vision for Rangers as we work towards our 150th anniversary and beyond.”

Former Daily Record reporter and BBC Scotland presenter James Traynor has been regarded as the man in charge of Ibrox communications since Dave King swept to power in March 2015.

With King believed to be stepping down this month it looks like Traynor’s days at Ibrox could also be nearing an end.

While Graham will no doubt have some media contacts in Scotland his background is bound to provide the club’s enemies with plenty of material.

Restoring relations with BBC Scotland is likely to be a priority, if Traynor steps aside that task should be quickly resolved with a large number of Ibrox-leaning employees inside the sports department of the state broadcaster.
