The Glasgow (Evening) and Herald publishers have decided to run #GerrardOut stories today.

Last week the Ibrox boss was a tactical genius after reaching the last 16 of the Scottish Cup but there are signs that the Europa League achievement could be one false dawn too many, even for the gullibles.

Tuesday’s media conference and his ‘All In’ pledge managed to win over enough fans to put losing to Hearts on the back-burner but the well of goodwill was emptied by the time the final whistle blew to confirm Hamilton’s win at Ibrox.

The FACTS! Are clear on this team and they are no closer to a trophy than Mark Warburton or Pedro Caixinha managed. Neither of those managers were given £7m to spend on a winger or were able to match the wages that Bournemouth were paying Jermain Defoe.

With each passing set-back the realisation grows that another summer rebuild is required with the perennial problem of trying to move on players brought in by a previous regime.

This summer the contracts of Andy Halliday, Jordan Rossiter and Jason Holt expire with no real contribution under Gerrard.

At this time of year season ticket sales become an issue, nowhere more so than at Ibrox where ticket money is essential with little coming in from commercial deals due to the toxic nature of Dave King.

The name of a Liverpool legend shifted season tickets in huge numbers for two seasons running, that trick won’t be so easy this summer which will clearly increase the likelihood of Gerrard Out becoming reality.
