At 11.40am this morning the SFA announced that all football is being suspended on the back of the growing threat from the Coronavirus.

All football in Scotland, including youth matches and the amateur game has been suspended with immediate effect starting with tonight’s match between Motherwell and Aberdeen.

No indication has been given as to when the season can resume, earlier this morning the EPL and EFL announced a suspension of fixtures until the weekend of April 3/4/5. UEFA has postponed next week’s Champions League and Europa Cup ties.

Celtic were due at Ibrox on Sunday but the developments this morning in England meant that it was only a matter of time before the derby clash was called off.

Next Saturday Celtic were due to play St Johnstone but that match will now have to be rescheduled, the following weekend there is an international break but it now seems highly unlikely that the Scotland v Israel Euro 2020 Play Off will go ahead.

The SPFL has two ronds of fixtures to complete before the split, after that Celtic are scheduled to get three home matches including one clash against Steven Gerrard’s side.
