Neil Lennon delivered a blunt ‘mind your own business’ message to Rene Meulensteen.

The Australian assistant manager took in Celtic’s midweek draw with Livingston then told newspaper reporters that he felt Tom Rogic should leave the club.

Meulensteen worked in Israel and India before being appointed as Graham Arnold’s assistant, making a career out of a stint as first team coach at Manchester United under Alex Ferguson and assistant manager Mike Phelan.

He’ll play if I pick him. He’s played quite regularly of late. He played against Copenhagen, he played very, very well. Made a great contribution on Sunday (at St Johnstone) and a great contribution on Wednesday and he is in the squad for tomorrow.

Rogic should move on?

Well that’s Rene’s opinion, not mine. I think that Tom is a great player, he had his injury problems earlier in the season, he’s come back looking very strong and fit

Rogic’s club career has basically been on hold since being injured at the January 2019 Asian Championships in the UAE which followed seven months after the World Cup Finals in Russia.

On his return to Celtic a scan on his arm uncovered a knee issue which required surgery ruling the midfielder out of action until the end of March.

Rogic has been restricted to just three goals this season but has been increasingly used over the last month.

Muelensteen and Arnold will be able to assess Rogic at the end of end month in matches against Kuwait and Nepal with further World Cup qualifiers on June 4 and 9 against Chinese Taipei and Jordan.
