Another Ibrox rescue bid has been dismantled as the board of directors remain silent after Dave King walked away.
On Friday night the South African based businessman told PA that he was quitting the club with the club issuing a brief statement two and a half hours later.
David Tanner quickly suggested a role for Graeme Souness but that moonbeam was killed off by his long term friend Chick Young on Sunday lunchtime as he told Radio Scotland listeners that the Sky Sports pundit had found a barge-pole.
Got an email from Jim McColl in trying to check the story about Liverpool’s owners saying they’d be interested in investing in Rangers. Not much to report but fwiw he did say he’d been mistaken and it wasn’t Fenway Sports Group who spoke to him about it.

Running in tandem with the Souness story was another old favourite- Jim McCall. A story in the Daily Record credited him with a personal fortune of £800m but that won’t add up for the workers involved in his disastrous handling of the Ferguson Marine Shipyard that is expected to cost the Scottish tax-payer over £200m.
Like Souness, McColl is a serial tyre-kicker who loves the limelight and attention that is assured when matters at Ibrox crop up.
In industry some critical questions may be asked but mention ‘life long fan’ when it comes to the sinking ship at Ibrox and a glowing profile can be assured.
McColl made hints towards Liverpool’s Fenway Sports Group wanting to roll out a mini-Anfield on Edmiston Drive but alas there wasn’t the slightest substance to that claim as he admitted to BBC Scotland.
It looks like the top spin on that yarn got out of control with the Moneyball plan simply another failed Moonbeam as Douglas Ireland Park tries to keep the ship afloat while his core business faces its greatest ever challenge.
