Neil Lennon has revealed that some of his first team players are back at Lennoxtown for solo training sessions.

On March 13 football was suspended with Lennon admitting that it could be 12 or 13 weeks before normal routines will be deemed safe.

After a week on Lock Down and working out in spare rooms or garages on a fitness programme from the club players can now enjoy the facilities of Lennoxtown.

With a full gym, weights room and other exercise facilities the players will now be able to tick over even though they won’t be in contact with team-mates.

Picking up on his interview with Chris Sutton on 5Live the Daily Record reports:

At the minute, we are trying to find ways of keeping the players stimulated and occupied. We’ve opened the training ground and they come in ones and twos and train out on the grass.

It’s a closed off area. We’d five in today [Monday] and we’ll have eight in tomorrow [Tuesday], but in groups of two. We’re not allowed out on the grass with them and they are, basically, doing their own thing. We’re in constant contact with them in terms of how they cope with this.

During his interview Lennon revealed that Celtic’s fitness team expected the current conditions to be in place for 12 or 13 weeks which runs into July.

That sort of timetable puts the spotlight on the football authorities who have to decide whether to complete the current campaign or prepare for next season.

Whatever option they go for it will be new ground for everyone in the game after an unprecedented break in mid-season.
