Neil Lennon believes that his Celtic side can get better over the remaining weeks of the season.

Yesterday’s win over St Johnstone made it 23 wins in their last 24 matches as they moved into the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup to compliment their 12 point lead at the top of the SPFL Premiership.

A year ago Lennon was getting to know the squad that he inherited from Brendan Rodgers with this season’s record far outstripping where the club were 12 months ago.

Lennon has a nucleus of players that have been regular winners over the last four seasons but yesterday it was relative newcomers in Chris Jullien and Ryan Christie that made the difference against on form St Johnstone.

Speaking to Celtic TV today the hoops boss stated:

I think that they can get better, I’ve said that to them ‘I think that they can get better and push on’, finish the season as strong as they possibly can. That’s what they want to do.

I think that they can be better, I think that there is more to come from this team and squad. There is no room for complacency because as soon as you think you are doing OK in football it comes and bites you on the backside. So it’s important that we keep our standards high and keep our performances consistent.

Celtic have five SPFL matches before the split- away at Livi, Ibrox and Easter Road with home matches against St Mirren and St Johnstone.

Wins in all five matches would make it possible to clinch the title in the first post-split fixture.
