Despite years of experience defeat still cuts right through Tom Miller.

The matchday commentator on ‘Rangers TV’ can’t hide the pain as he sees another ‘goingfor55’ bite the dust in the most despairing of circumstances.

At the end of December all was well in the world as the Celtic players looked despondent while Steven Gerrard air punched, screamed at the Sky Sports cameras and celebrated as if he had just been handed the SPFL title.

True Celtic led by two points but with a game in hand the Ibrox side were technically on top with a favourable run of fixtures after their winter break in Dubai.

Since the end of the winter break the gap at the top of the table has increased by 11 points, even when Celtic slip up they manage to extend their lead at the top of the SPFL.

Even Graeme Murty and Pedro Caixinha never managed to lose consecutive matches to the team at the bottom of the SPFL table. Last night Miller relayed that record of Mr Gerrard to fans worldwide.

With almost three months of football left this season the picture is looking bleak at Ibrox as Gerrard pays the price for failing to deliver the title that he celerated in stule at Celtic Park just nine weeks ago.
