The SFA will pay out £1.5m to member clubs in the next 24 hours to hold off the financial crisis gripping Scottish football.

The payment will be graded, averaging out at £35,000 per club but while that won’t go far in the top flight for clubs in the lower divisions it should ensure that the March payroll commitments are met.

Scottish football was suspended last Friday until further notice with the impact of the Coronavirus going deeper into society.

The SFA have been harder hit than most with three massive pay-days anticipated over the next month at Hampden.

Scotland’s Euro 2020 play-off with Israel was a sell-out with the Scottish Cup semi-finals next month likely to attract close to 100,000 fans to Hampden over two days.

The money from the SFA is a result of broadcasting and sponsorship deals but with no Scottish Cup semi-finals William Hills, BBC Scotland and Premier Sports could be looking for refunds if the matches aren’t completed in the next three months.
