Celtic fans got very dewy eyed as they watched through a video compilation of Moussa Dembele’s goals for the club.
In just over two seasons he ‘only’ scored 51 times but when those goals are front loaded into Glasgow derbies, Champions League ties, Pittodrie visits and Hampden clashes legendary status is assured.
On 1 July 2016 the formalities of a cross-border deal with Fulham was completed with the £500,000 fee representing incredible value after 16 goals scored in The Championship.
After three goal-less appearances in Champions League qualifying ties the young French kid showed his big match temperament when he came off the bench to strike home the decisive penalty against Astana to take Celtic into a play-off against Hapoel Be’er Sheva.
September 10 was the real day of reckoning with Leigh Griffiths unfit for the opening Glasgow derby against Mark Warburton’s side.
Dembele stuck away a hat-trick in a 5-1 Dembelition with the sight of those blue jerseys bringing out the best in him as Celtic powered through to an Invincible Treble.
Season 2017/18 was slightly less dramatic but the memories were just as vivid including a Panenka style penalty past Wesley Foderingham in a Scottish Cup semi-final win at Hampden.
In August 2018 he joined Lyon under something of a cloud but subsequent revelations about Brendan Rodgers, an appearance at the title party and regular social media posts about his old club have added to the legend of Moussa Dembele.

Oh how I miss the Mouss. The knuckledraggers from Govan were absolutely petrified of him. Their fear was beautiful.
