UEFA chief Aleksander Ceferin has hit out at the Fake News that has been swirling around the game since football was suspended last Friday.

On Tuesday UEFA postponed the European Championships for 12 months with no other decisions cut and dried about the impact of Coronavirus on the sport.

Celtic and Liverpool look poised to claim their domestic titles but when or if they get to complete their campaigns remains unknown.

On a daily basis ‘reports’ claim that the 2019/20 season will end with the current positions declared final and usually followed by counter claims of a null and void verdict from another source.

At Tuesday’s UEFA meeting they outlined hopes that domestic leagues could be completed by June 30 but since then there has been no hard and fast decisions made.

Responding to the rounds of rumours Ceferin told the Daily Mail:

I’ve seen and heard some again fake news that UEFA will advise leagues to finish the championships now and decide that the winners are the ones who are number one now.

I can say that it’s not true. Our goal is to finish the leagues and we didn’t recommend anything like that to any association or league.

SPFL Premiership clubs will host a conference call today but it’s more likely that they will discuss finances rather than how to conclude the season.

Yesterday Hearts announced that they were cutting all salaries by 50% from April.
