Scott Brown won’t entertain any attempt to abandon the SPFL campaign.

With 30 matches played Celtic are 13 points clear at the top of the table and on course to collect their ninth successive league title.

Some attempts have been made on social media to get the season abandoned but the advise expected from the UK and Scottish government is for fixtures to continue but to be played behind closed doors.

Celtic have overcome numerous hurdles to get into their current position with Brown emphatic about how he sees the developing situation.

The Daily Record reports the Celtic skipper saying:

If it ends, it stays at it is. We are in a good position but we just need to focus on this game on Sunday. The main thing is we make sure everyone is OK, they are all safe and we try and catch this on the head as soon as we can. But obviously we still want to play football and win as many games as we can whether it’s in front of fans or not.

It will be sad if there’s no fans there because that’s what football is all about. It would be weird playing behind closed doors but if it gets the league done and dusted and we managed to keep up with the fixtures as well, it helps everybody.

The Scottish government are expected to put a temporary ban on meetings of more than 500 people from Monday which seems very convenient timing.

On Tuesday UEFA will host a video meeting in which they will discuss postponing the Champions League and Europa League which could have a knock-on effect on the European Championships which starts in June.
