Dave Cormack is rapidly becoming the mouthpiece for Sevco.

With the Ibrox club going quiet on the statement front the Aberdeen chief executive is maintaining the pressure on the SPFL to do anything to prevent or delay Celtic being crowned as champions.

Last Saturday Cormack was given the floor on Radio Scotland’s Sportsound show where he echoed the view that there should be an independent enquiry into the SPFL vote to decide the season based on sporting merit.

The trans-atlantic Don has come up with a few statements of his own this week with the Daily Record loyally reporting how the Dons are working hand and glove with the club at Ibrox.

Keith Jackson reveals:

Aberdeen’s ambitious plan to restart the season behind closed doors is set to be laughed out of Hampden after UEFA bosses effectively green lighted the SPFL’s plan to crown Celtic champions.

Record Sport can reveal Rangers’ sporting director Ross Wilson wrote to league chiefs to officially support the Pittodrie proposal, which would see the campaign played to a finish over the summer without fans.

But even though the Ibrox club have endorsed Dons chief Dave Cormack’s plan, UEFA’s executive committee appeared to pave the way for leagues in Scotland, Belgium and Holland to end the season.

It is not expected the SPFL will be rushed into making that call.

We understand chief executive Neil Doncaster is now awaiting a letter from European football’s governing body that is expected to provide clear and specific instruction ?on how the Scottish ?game should handle the coronavirus lockdown.

But while UEFA are calling for domestic campaigns to be restarted they have now stepped back from threatening to punish smaller countries with European bans.

Cormack can anticipate fawning coverage from the Daily Record who seem to have access to all communications between Ibrox and the SPFL/SFA.

Yesterday’s UEFA ruling allows the SPFL to confirm Celtic as 2019/20 champions and go forward to next season’s Champions League qualifiers.

Aberdeen’s ‘ambitious plans’ seem to overlook the fact that the Scottish Government won’t permit group training until June 10 at the earliest.
