One caller to Radio Clyde’s Super Scoreboard programme last night explained how there was an escape route to England for his Ibrox heroes.

Apparently there is huge demand for the world famous brand down south where their presence in the lower leagues will give the game the same sort of lift that Annan, Peterhead and Forfar enjoyed when Ally McCoist was guiding his side to glory a few years ago.

Programme host Gordon Duncan tried his best to reason with the caller with some gentle questions but with no evidence whatsoever the caller continued regardless of what was said to him.

It is difficult to know where to start with the argument but paying the wages of Jermain Defoe, Steven Gerrard, Alfredo Morelos and James Tavernier might be tricky without the money that comes in from Europa League matches.

The approval of the SFA, FA and UEFA would be required for any move with clubs in the Conference expected to step aside to allow the famous ‘Blue Pound’ factor into the bottom tier of the EFL, League Two.

Further suggestions are expected again tonight with the programme starting at 6pm.
