Celtic fans took news that Bet365 wouldn’t pay out on winning the title if the SPFL Premiership isn’t completed with a shrug of the shoulders.
Bookies are well known for publicity stunts with Paddy Power setting the trend by paying out ahead of evens being decided.
Celtic started this season as strong favourites for the Premiership title but the odds lengthened slightly towards the turn of the year when their lead was just two points at the halfway stage.
Since the turn of the year the advantage has stretched to 13 points with the odds shrinking to the virtually unbackable.
Rules are apparently rules but Bet365 are paying out on Dundee United, Raith Rovers and Cove Rangers. A goodwill gesture. Those pay-outs are hardly likely to leave them exposed, paying out on Celtic would be a far more costly ‘goodwill gesture’.
Bookies tend to have all of the rules on their side, if they don’t pay out on Celtic winning will they also return bets on other teams winning the title?
Taking it a few steps further what is the status of all matches played in this season’s Premiership, will punters be entitled to refunds for ‘losing bets’ on any match during the season?

That mean money back for all the punters who backed Rangers to stop nine in a row? Celtic were odds on at the start of the season and doubt there were many big bets but can imagine a few Gers fans bought into the Slippy hype so BET365 must refund what are likely to be bigger bets
