Neil Doncaster has completed a round of media interviews to explain his heart-break over accusations of wrong-doing.

On May 12 the SPFL will host an EGM where clubs will vote on whether an Independent Investigation into the vote to decide the season based on average points per game.

Through their various media outlets the Ibrox club have conducted an effective smear campaign with Doncaster, Rod McKenzie and Murdoch MacLennan being portrayed as ‘Rangers haters’.

That accusation is especially hurtful for Doncaster who has spent the last eight years trying to restore the Old Firm rivalry that died in June 2012.

At every turn the former Norwich chief has did his best to assist the Ibrox club including rushing through The Five Way Agreement ahead of a Challenge Cup tie at Brechin when two Ibrox clubs were had membership of the SFA.

Playing the sympathy card Doncaster told The Sun:

Some very serious allegations were made several weeks ago, but there is not one shred of alleged evidence being produced to back up those claims.

When it comes to allegations of improper conduct, I would hope everyone would expect that if those allegations are made, they should be made openly.

There should be proof brought forward that someone has acted improperly and those allegations investigated.

I’ve genuinely got no idea what it is that’s specifically being alleged. There have been vague assertions of bullying and coercion, but if anyone feels they have been bullied by me, or my staff, they should come forward and tell the chairman.

I’m absolutely happy that all my behaviour and the behaviour of my staff has been entirely appropriate at every point.

Ibrox MD Stewart Robertson is a board member of the SPFL. Soon after Scot Gardiner appeared on Radio Scotland on April 11 Douglas Park called for the suspensions of Doncaster and McKenzie.
