Murdoch MacLennan is paying the price for failing to take decisive action against Douglas Park for his accusations about the SPFL.

Shortly after Scott Gardiner revealed selected details of his WhatsApp chats to Radio Scotland on Saturday the Ibrox club came out with a statement calling for the suspension of Neil Doncaster after a whistle blower ‘raised serious concerns surrounding the SPFL’s processes relating to its stewardship of the voting on the resolution’.

Rather than be hit with a disrepute charge from the SFA MacLennan asked Park to produce the evidence from the so-called whistle-blower. Predictably nothing has been produced.

Yesterday the Daily Record reported on Stewart Robertson apparently savaging his fellow members of the SPFL board.

Today The Sun has inside details of a confidential letter from Park to MacLennan which ticks all the boxes for the gullibles convinced that the former Daily Record, Scotsman, Express and Telegraph executive is at centre of an elaborate conspiracy to deny Rangers their true glory.

SunSport understands the Ibrox club have responded in writing after MacLennan urged Gers to provide “compelling evidence” or withdraw their demands for SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster and legal advisor Rod McKenzie to be suspended immediately.

It’s believed Rangers have made it clear they have NO faith in MacLennan’s judgement and reiterated their call for an independent enquiry into the voting process which has plunged Scottish football into chaos.

Gers have also urged MacLennan to publicly explain the derogatory remarks towards the Ibrox club which were attributed to him in the July 2017 edition of Private Eye.

The thrust of the letter sent by Ibrox chairman Douglas Park questions MacLennan’s ability to continue in the role as chairman amid the on-going pandemic crisis.

The SPFL board are still waiting on the vote from Dundee before they can act on the resolution to pay out prize money based on average points won per game.

Long time Ibrox fans Stewart Robertson and Les Gray are members of the nine strong SPFL board which includes MacLennan and Doncaster.
