Fan station Rangers Radio, not to be confused with Kenny MacIntyre’s Sportsound, has discussed the long anticipated Celtic Tax Case.

Two well informed fans appear to have been feeding off every conspiracy morsel to share with fellow bears the imminent doom that is awaiting Celtic, but sinisterly being kept under wraps by the Scottish media.

Around 2008 word started to emerge from Ibrox about a tax issue with documents picked up and handed to HMRC in 2007 after the Met Police kicked the doors in at Ibrox to raid the marble staircase in a probe into the transfer of Jean-Alain Boumsong.

Six months after signing for Rangers on a free transfer from Auxerre the Frenchman joined ex Ibrox boss Graeme Souness at Newcastle United in an £8m transfer.

The Wee Tax Case and the Big Tax Case both slowly emerged afterwards although neither directly led to the club being put into liquidation.

Finding a Celtic equivalent has been a priority for many Ibrox fans since that fateful period. Various tax schemes have been investigated involving celebrities from sport and showbiz but the Ibrox investigators have been unable to distinguish between a club run scam and individuals entering into schemes independent of their employer.

In July 2017 The Supreme Court ruled that the scheme run by Rangers until 2011 was disguised remuneration liable to Income Tax, National Insurance, interest and penalties.
