Yesterday’s SPFL board meeting was twice adjourned and will resume this morning before individual conference calls are made with each division this afternoon.

Football was suspended on March 13 with clubs at every level feeling the chill of a month without any fans clicking through the turnstiles.

With little prospect of any football being played before July at the earliest clubs are waiting on the final £8m of prize money to be paid out.

The final payment is based on league positions with the obvious call being to declare the current standings as the final places.

One club has to put on a public show of opposing that prospect but with player wages deferred at Ibrox every penny is welcomed in order to pay the kitchen staff and Betty the tea lady.

Covering yesterday’s board meeting, The Sun reports:

SPFL chiefs will continue talks on Wednesday morning after Tuesday’s board meeting was TWICE adjourned.

League organisers got together on a conference call to discuss a way forward for Scottish football amid the Coronavirus crisis.

The video meeting started at noon before being halted until 6pm with chiefs deciding to get back around the table again on Wednesday.

All the possible options on the table were thrashed out with the board hoping to have a firm plan to take to clubs on Wednesday afternoon.

Chairmen and owners are hoping to be given a firm idea of whether the football season will be resumed or not.

The 2019/20 SPFL Board is made up of Neil Doncaster (CEO), Murdoch MacLennan (Chairman), Karyn McCluskey (non-executive), Alan Burrows (Motherwell), Les Gray (Hamilton Academical), Stewart Robertson, Ross McArthur (Dunfermline Athletic), Ewen Cameron (Alloa Athletic), Ken Ferguson (Brechin City) and Peter Davidson (Montrose).
