The vote by member clubs on the SPFL board proposal to finish the season is in turmoil with three clubs refusing to vote!

Votes were supposed to be in by 5pm but at 5.40pm tonight the SPFL issued a statement revealing that in the Premiership the vote was 10-1 in favour, in the Championship it was 7-2 with the two lower divisions voting 16-3 in favour.

The Premiership clubs and League 1 & 2 combined have voted in favour of the proposal with everything now hinging on the Championship club that has still to decide/vote.

It seems that the SPFL has no rules to cover a club failing to vote or abstain but in the votes cast each group has delivered a vote in excess of 75%.

Further updates will be delivered by the SPFL tonight as clubs wait to see whether the current placings will be made final allowing prize money to be paid out.

Today’s vote covers the three lower divisions and will be applied to the Premiership if time runs out on playing the remaining eight rounds of fixtures. Using the same criteria Celtic would lift the title with an average of 2.67 points per game, Steven Gerrard’s side have picked up 2.31 points per game.
