Daily Record columnist Barry Ferguson has admitted that he doesn’t read books and needed the Ibrox dossier to be explained to him by a shopper in Larkhall.

The former Ibrox skipper recently celebrated Kelty Hearts being awarded the Lowland League title but the prospect of a ninth successive Celtic title success seems to be haunting him.

Steven Gerrard offered hope, by the time January came around that had turned into expectation but when the season was suspended on March 13 that old familiar sinking feeling had returned.

Celtic are 13 points clear with eight matches left to play, over the last 10 matches the gap at the top has increased by 11 points.

Null and Void was the last hope, a dossier of destruction to kill off the nine but with no smoking gun or silver bullet Ferguson has nothing left to cling onto.

In his column in the Daily Record he explains:

Much of the dossier is also outside my range of expertise. I’m a football guy and a layman, not a lawyer who can go through these matters with expertise.

While I was out shopping for essentials in Larkhall I had someone shouting from across the street asking if I’d seen the Rangers statement.

I shouted back: “Naw mate, I’ve not seen it yet.”

He replied: “It’s 200 effin pages son.” I shouted back: “It’s 200 pages? If that’s the case then there’s no chance of me reading it.”

I have to be honest and admit I don’t read books. We both agreed that it would be better for others to dissect it and come up with four or five bullet points and then we can see what issues are being argued.

These things are always masked in legalese and that has been the case with this Rangers report and exactly what I’ve seen from reading into it.

Let’s be honest, many of these documents, especially at 200 pages, can be a bit boring in the detail and not easily digested.

My mate in Larkhall was right about the length of it and I was only expecting about nine or ten paragraphs explaining exactly what Rangers believed had happened so to hear it’s 200 pages was a bit of a shock.

All 42 clubs will vote on the dossier on Tuesday when the SPFL hold an EGM over calling for an independent investigation.
