Douglas Park’s call for an independent investigation into the vote to call the SPFL based on average points per game has been rejected at an EGM of all SPFL clubs.

The three clubs facing relegation plus the second placed clubs in the Championship and League One backed the Ibrox motion but overall it was rejected by the clubs in the Premiership, Championship and the combined League One and Two votes. To be carried the vote required 75% backing from each category of SPFL clubs.

Shortly after 3pm today news leaked out of the result:

Angry statements are expected later today from Ibrox but the main decison will be whether the SFA charge Douglas Park and Scot Gardiner over not acting in the best interests of Scottish football.

On April 11, soon after Scot Gardiner was interviewed by Radio Scotland, Douglas Park called for the suspensions of Rod McKenzie and Neil Doncaster.

Straight away SPFL Chairman Murdoch MacLennan called on Park to produce the evidence to justify the claim.

With no sign of any evidence Hearts and Stranraer backed a call for an EGM with the whistle-blower evidence upgraded to a dossier.

Last Thursday, five days before the EGM the so-called dossier was released with many media commentators describing it as a water pistol rather than a smoking gun.
