Alfredo Morelos’ transfer value has dropped an incredible £80m over the course of a couple of months.
Whenever there is no live football a favourite feature is to put a value on the players at your club.
Being a fan naturally makes you biased but it was still quite a stretch in January to value Morelos in the £100m zone. With no competitive international caps, no winners’ medals after three seasons in Scotland and no goals against Celtic the former HJK Helsinki striker is most certainly off the radar for most clubs across Europe. English interest can be dismissed due to work permit regulations.
Since his first transfer window in January 2018 when the mystery bids came in from China there has always been speculation about speculation in Morelos. Various clubs have been keeping tabs and monitoring the situation but no-one has ever made a bid.
Reviewing the January valuation leading fan site Ibrox Noise summarised Morelos as follows:
In November there were real chances the UEL and SPL top scorer was going into the £100M zone. Worse players than he have gone for more, so why not. He was on fire and his stock had never been higher. But of course it’s a different world now. His form crashed, his stock plummeted and he’s no longer popular with fans. Ideally we want to get around £20M for him, but we don’t know if that’s feasible now. There is plenty interest in him though so £15M may be.
With seven red cards in 17 months Morelos has a red flag against his name in the transfer market.
Since the turn of the year the striker has served suspensions from UEFA, the SFA and his own club.
In front of goal he has the grand total of one to his name, a late strike in the Scottish Cup win over Hamilton, in the next round he was suspended by his own club for the defeat from Hearts.
According to Ibrox Noise Borna Barisic is the most valued player at Ibrox, easily fetching £20m for his outstanding form in the first half of this season.
Five men. £60M at Ibrox during summer transfer window. They are including Hagi.??https://t.co/d8A2Z2yY0a

Buying Hagi for £4.5M and selling him later that day for £10M – peak delusion!

The last time this club sold anyone for decent money was in 2012. Now all of a sudden they’re getting bids of £10M+ for 4 of their players. Somebody’s been bulk buying the UHU this lockdown.

Anyone got a spare quid? ?
— Indy Ghirl (@weemarie43) May 14, 2020
Aye they’ll just pay the 4.5m for him. We still talking about same club that sent out £25 voucher for the club shop in place of £125 worth of home games? ?

Wow the levels of delusion are just off the scale!! 100m for Morelos?? But they’d take 15m now. The rest are pipe dreams and then there’s Hagi……oh dear….
