Premiership clubs will host a conference call today that will discuss ending the Premiership season- and awarding Celtic the 2019/20 title.

The mystery dossier from Ibrox is apparently top of the agenda but almost two months after the last weekend of matches deciding on the current season is high on the agenda.

Last month more than 80% of all SPFL clubs voted in favour of deciding the titles based on average points per game with Dundee United, Raith Rovers and Cove Rangers awarded the lower division titles with prize money paid out.

Premiership clubs have now gone two Pay-rolls with at most one home match with the need for the final instalments of prize money badly needed.

The conference call is scheduled for 2pm today with the Daily Record reporting:

Record Sport understands, on top of the Rangers egm debate, a raft of other pressing matters will be discussed by the top 12 relating to the potentially catastrophic financial ramifications of the ongoing lockdown.

The clubs hope to share information on how and when the game might be safely restarted and what social distancing measures would have to be put in place at training grounds as well as inside stadiums in order to get football back up and running.

League reconstruction will also be on the agenda with proposals for a new set up of three divisions of 14 teams, or a 14-10-10-10 on the table.

It’s likely too that the clubs will debate whether or not the time has come for them to officially ask the SPFL to bring an end to the top-flight campaign – relegating Hearts and awarding leaders Celtic with the title.

Another source said: “The SPFL already has a mandate to end the season whenever it sees fit. But if a vast majority of the Premiership clubs agree that that time has now come then it might make that decision a lot more straightforward.

“The medical advice we’re all receiving suggests we’ll be lucky to be playing football before September so, more and more, the focus is shifting towards how to get next season played to a finish never mind bringing this one to an end.

“There is a lot to be discussed. It’s not unusual for the Premiership clubs to hold meetings but it’s fair to say there has never been one quite like this before in terms of what is up for discussion and the situation we all find ourselves in at such a critical moment.

“Often these meetings don’t live up to their billing and can be a bit of a damp squib but, in this instance, there are some incredibly important and sensitive topics which need to be addressed as a matter of urgency. All the biggest hitters in the top flight will be on this conference call because of the gravity of what is at stake.”

Yesterday the French League announced Paris Saint Germain as their champions with the league decided by current positions.
