When Donald Findlay calls out the actions from within Ibrox it’s time for the staunchest of bears to pause and to take stock. Without question the Cowdenbeath chairman is one of their own.

He does however have something that distinguishes him from the crowd- he is capable of thought and not go with the extremist herd mentality that emerges from social media and shapes opinion inside the Blue Room of unsurpassed dignity (and overdue invoices).

During the glory days of the nineties Findlay was the chief rabble rouser in his role as vice-chairman at Ibrox.

While Dave Murray filleted the place for personal glory introducing modern ideas such as non-traditional signings, his side-kick convinced the fans that the true ethos of the club was in good hands- while trashing Celtic at every opportunity.

After the 1999 Scottish Cup Final Findlay went a step too far, falling foul of an old-fashioned camcorder. Joining several first team players on stage, including Neil McCann, the vice chairman expressed in song the thoughts and feelings of the fans as he soaked up their adulation.

Soon afterwards Findlay walked away, the tape from the camcorder was handed to the Daily Record with Murray forced to sack his vice-chair after he went too far with the staunch card.

Despite his coloured background Findlay is one of the top legal minds in Scotland, in the courtroom he has seen and heard it all from generations of chancers and crooks. When he calls out the current regime at Ibrox it’s difficult to justify calling him Timothy or Declan’s undercover.

Speaking to The Nine Findlay said:

I’m disappointed in the way Rangers have approached this. If they have evidence to back up what they say, and I assume that they must or they would not make these comments, then let’s see the evidence.

Why is it being held back? Put it out there so that everybody in the game can have a look at it and form a view of it.

Now we have a meeting coming up next month and this is just taking up time unnecessarily. I think Rangers should just get this out there and then we can go forward.

I’m disappointed in the way that they have made these allegations and not produced the evidence. I don’t think that was the way Rangers used to behave.

I think you have to be candid. If you have something that shows a wrong has been committed, why sit on your hands, why hold on to it? Why not just let everybody see it?

Instead of telling people what the evidence is, let them actually see what the evidence is and we can deal with it. I don’t think that they have dealt with this in a very balanced way, no. I’m disappointed in the people at Rangers at the moment.
