John Nelms has admitted that ‘Rangers’ think that he has handed the SPFL title to Celtic!

The Dundee chief voted in favour of the SPFL season being decided on average points per game which carried the motion put forward by their board.

With 2.67 points per match over 30 games Celtic will be awarded the 2019/20 title with Steven Gerrard’s flops managing just 2.31 from 29 games.

Since the turn of the year the gap at the top of the Premiership has stretched from 2 to 13 points over the course of 10 matches.

As well as getting knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Hearts, Gerrard has watched his side lose to Kilmarnock, Hearts (again) and Hamilton while drawing with Aberdeen and St Johnstone.

Despite taking his squad to Dubai to prepare for the second half of the season Gerrard has watched his side collapse for the second season running but the Liverpool legend appears to be emerging unscathed from another failed attempt to stop Celtic.

After three weeks of silence surrounded by innuendo and conspiracy theories Nelms took part in a Q and A with the Dundee paper, the Evening Telegraph:

George Cran: Can you understand why other people saw Dundee as the bad guy?

John Nelms: Obviously, people think we have handed United the league, Rangers think we have handed Celtic the league, although that is in the hands of the board, which they have a representative on. Over 80% voted for it and it was going to happen one way or the other – we represent 3% of that vote, total. The only way going forward would be league reconstruction. Yeah, I can see why I am the bad guy, but 81 or 82% of the league are also that same bad guy. The league did, in putting it out there, put us in a bad position.

On May 12 the SPFL will host an EGM to discuss the explosive Ibrox dossier that led to calls for Neil Doncaster and Rod McKenzie to be suspended.
