Celtic will be given the chance to win the Scottish Cup twice next season.

The 2019/20 competition has been halted at the semi-final stage with Celtic due to face Aberdeen with Hearts and Hibs meeting in the other semi-final.

Later this morning the SPFL are expected to announce that the 2019/20 season is over with Celtic as champions leaving the Scottish Cup as the outstanding part of the Quadreble.

With social distancing and Behind Closed Doors matches expected at the start of next season playing the remaining 2019/20 Scottish Cup ties in front of supporters looks ambitious at this stage.

The suspension of football has hit the SFA especially hard in the season that they took over the running of Hampden.

Scotland’s play-off with Israel was one of the first casualties, followed by three Scottish Cup ties and four matches at Euro 2020 which would have brought in large part of their annual income.

No club has ever won the Scottish Cup four years running, if Celtic maintain their domestic cup run they could stretch it to five-in-a-row in 12 months time.
