Murdoch MacLennan is ready to shoot down the infamous Ibrox dossier which was laced with innuendo and suggestions but lacked a smoking gun or silver bullet.

Since April 11 when Douglas Park called for the suspensions of Neil Doncaster and Rod McKenzie the spotlight has been in Ibrox to come up with the evidence to justify those calls.

Before the dossier was published yesterday an extensive campaign had been lodged against the SPFL with Radio Scotland at the forefront.

Michael Stewart was virtually side-lined as a succession of guests including Gregory Campbell were given airtime to share long time grudges caused by Celtic’s run of success.

Soon after the dossier was released the SPFL slammed it as containing ‘not a single shred of evidence’, now MacLennan is set to deliver a forensic demolition of the Ibrox claims.

The Sun reports:

League chairman Murdoch MacLennan is planning to shoot down their wide-ranging claims within the next 24 hours.

Gers finally delivered their long-awaited “evidence” on Thursday, with SunSport first to reveal the key details online.

The Light Blues specifically targeted chief executive Neil Doncaster and lawyer Rod McKenzie with a scattergun attack. But there was no significant evidence to back up many of their claims.

It’s understood the SPFL are now preparing a statement of their own to send to clubs before Tuesday’s scheduled EGM.

A source said: “There will be a firm rebuttal which will address the points made by Rangers in their so-called dossier. There are certain things Rangers have mentioned while a number of other details were omitted.

“It’s important the clubs are given all the relevant information needed to make a decision on whether there’s a need for another investigation.”

On Radio Clyde last night Stewart Robertson claimed that he had experienced the worst governance he had ever known while sitting on the SPFL board, that claim and others are likely to be answered when MacLennan comes out fighting.
