Celtic fans got the popcorn out as it was announced that the call for an independent investigation into the SPFL had been overwhelmingly rejected by member clubs.
Just 13 clubs voted in favour of the EGM motion, ironically the same number of points Celtic lead the Premiership by with eight matches left to be played.
Douglas Park needed the backing of 75% of the votes from clubs in the Premiership, Championship and Leagues One and Two. The full breakdown has still to be announced but it looks like less there was no more than 30% of votes in favour in each category.
Since Park called for the suspensions of Neil Doncaster and Rod McKenzie on April 11 there has been a relentless media campaign, led by BBC Scotland, in favour of holding an independent investigation.
Inverness Caley Thistle, Kelty Hearts, Stenhousemuir and Brora Rangers have all been given attention in recent weeks with Neil Doncaster having to repeatedly explain to Richard Gordon and Tom English the difference between an advance and a loan.
Angry statements and threats are expected later today from Ibrox but the next stage is for the SPFL to declare the Premiership season over with Celtic as champions and Dundee United replacing relegated Hearts.

Let’s cut the crap. They needed 32 to go AGAINST the SPFL. What actually happened was 27 were FOR the SPFL. And the total SUPPORT from all member clubs towards the SPFL was 65% (2 clubs abstained). Any chance now we can maybe think about ‘moving on’…..
