Alan Stubbs looked out his fishing rod to go trolling today as he recalled a cancelled party from 22 years ago.
Modestly claiming to be the Best Pub in the World, The Louden Tavern is certainly known in the west of Scotland as a place that Celtic fans should avoid even though it is less than a mile from Celtic Park.
In the spring of 1998 the only issue that mattered was whether or not Celtic could stop 10-in-a-row happening across the city.
It was a landmark that Celtic fans dreaded, at Ibrox and the Louden it was the stuff of dreams and parties. Long before social media had been considered the east end pub announced a 10-in-a-row party for the evening of May 9.
David Murray hired a helicopter to get his players back from their match at Tannadice to join the party staged at Ibrox where their match was being watched on a beam-back.

Fortunately for Celtic fans the party never happened. Goals from Henrik Larsson and Harald Brattbakk gave Celtic a 2-0 win over St Johnstone and their first title win in a decade.
Stubbs enjoyed it to the full, 22 years on he still enjoys the gratitude of the Celtic support but he won’t be nipping into the Loudon any time soon.
