Neil Lennon will take his squad to Loughborough University before heading to France for some pre-season matches.

The champions resumed contact training yesterday after two weeks of individual training sessions at Lennoxtown.

Over the last four years Celtic have spent ten days to a fortnight in Austria enjoying a mix of high quality training facilities with matches against a variety of opponents. Last season they completed their pre-season build up with a friendly across the Swiss border against St Gallen.

This year everything will be a bit different with the Daily Record reporting:

Celtic will step up their pre-season preparations at a training base in Loughborough before flying out to France for friendly matches in Lyon and Paris. It’s believed they are currently in talks with various possible opponents for friendly dates later in July at Celtic Park.

Before the FA created St, George’s Park Loughborough was the main training centre in the UK for athletes. Located south of Nottingham it will provide Lennon’s squad with all the training facilities that they require as they step up preparation to win a 10th successive SPFL title.

The dates for the matches in France have still to be named but within the next week the SPFL are expected to announce the Premiership fixtures.
