Celtic Keeper Latest- Full focus on Forster as Hart link is downgraded

Fraser Forster remains Celtic’s signing priority according to a report in The Sun.

The keeper played a huge part in Celtic’s double success in the season just ended but is due back at Southampton next week as his loan deal comes to an end.

On Friday Celtic fans were underwhelmed by reports that their club was showing interest in Joe Hart while a report claimed that Southampton were ready to look again at Forster in pre-season training.

As it stands Scott Bain will be the only keeper with first team experience in training this weekend but despite the Hart speculation Lennon is determined to do whatever it takes to get another deal for Forster.

Discussing the Hart link Derek McGregor of The Sun reports:

It’s understood he’s not a priority for Neil Lennon and is more likely to remain down south, with Championship promotion hopefuls West Brom keen on him.

The Celts boss’ full focus is on keeping Fraser Forster for at least another season on loan from Southampton and he’s prepared to remain patient believing a deal can yet be struck for the giant star who was magnificent throughout the nine-in-a-row season and in Europe.

Forster has been part of Celtic’s return to training but his Hoops agreement formally ends on Tuesday. The 32-year-old wants to be part of the fight for a record breaking 10 straight titles and hopes a compromise deal can be struck with Saints over his massive wages.

Forster signed his current Southampton deal in 2017 which still has two years left to run.

Incredibly Lennon has already signed the keeper four times- season long loans in 2010, 2011 and 2019 as well as a permanent move in 2012 before Celtic sold Forster to Southampton two years later.
