Celtic have been linked as a possible loan destination for Takefuso Kuba- the 19-year-old with the 250million euro buy-out clause!.

Real Madrid managed to get the midfielder out of Barcelona last summer with Bernabeu president Florentino Perez convinced that Kuba is footballing gold-dust in terms of ability and marketing Real across Asia.

Kuba has spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Real Mallorca with a different environment required for his return to Madrid in 2021.

Celtic’s record in developing players such as Virgil van Dijk, Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard has been noted across the continent with the added bonus of regular European football to test players at a higher level.

AS reports:

It’s not just PSG. There are at least 29 clubs taking a keen interest in Kubo playing for them: Ajax, Lazio, Milan, Celtic.. and more than 10 teams in Spain alone, among them Real Sociedad and Betis.

Kubo is currently on loan at Mallorca. Real Madrid’s plan is to agree a new destination for the Japanese player, if, as seems likely, he doesn’t make it into the 2020-21 squad as one of the three non-EU players. Madrid are biding their time though, because they are keen for Kubo to not only stay in Spain, but also to get a taste of European football…

Next season isn’t really the one for Celtic to experiment with ‘wonder kids’ even if they come from Real Madrid but Kubo will appeal to the hoops marketing department.

Shunsuke Nakamura and Ki Sung Yueng opened Celtic open to Asian markets but without a high profile player interest quickly disappears.
