Celtic are believed to be monitoring Pawel Dawidowicz of Hellas Verona in Serie A.

Herald reporter Drew Hendry has no track record on Celtic transfers with little substance to the report.

Celtic will be monitoring hundreds of players across the world with Dawidowicz ticking a number of boxes with the 25-year-old valued at £1.4m with some experience of playing in a top league.

The transfer window is still scheduled to open next week but until a date can be put on the return of fans to Scottish football grounds it’s unlikely that Celtic will be bringing in any new faces to add to their current squad.

The Herald claims:

Celtic are monitoring £1.4m rated defender Pawel Dawidowicz of Hellas Verona.

The Polish centre-half has starred 14 times this season in Serie A and is currently preparing for a return to action when the Italian top tier makes a comeback on June 20. Dawidowicz, 25, scored his only goal of the campaign against Lecce back in January.

Celts would need to stump up some cash in a bid to lure Dawidowicz – who can also play as a central defensive midfielder – to Scotland, with his contract not up until June, 2022.

Serie A is due to resume later this month with Dawidowicz playing in 14 of Verona’s 25 matches on their return to the top flight.

With Jozo Simunovic leaving the club Celtic are down to two recognised central defenders in Chris Jullien and Kris Ajer with recent top team experience. Hatem Abd Elhamed could be switched into that area of the park while Stephen Welsh and Robbie Deas picked up good experience on loan at Morton and Alloa last season.
