Ianis Hagi will be paid a basic salary of £1m a year from Ibrox, presumably before deductions for Income Tax and National Insurance with bonuses added in for international success.
The midfielder is on the fringes of the Romanian national side which is in the Play Offs for Euro 2020 with two more ties needed to reach next summer’s finals.
Hagi’s salary is bound to be a topic of conversation when Steven Gerrard’s squad return to training next week, it was reported in April that a raft of pay deferrals had been agreed with the highest earners at the club.

The Romanian international will receive a salary of approximately 1.1 million euros per year, to which are added various bonuses. Apart from the performance bonuses passed in the contract, respectively for matches played and victories, goals scored, trophies won, qualifications in European cups or years spent in the club’s jersey, Hagi jr. he would also have a special clause, and will be remunerated for the selections for the national team and for the qualification for the important tournaments with the Romanian national team. Basically, if the midfielder defeats Iceland and Hungary / Bulgaria and qualifies for Euro 2020, a final tournament that was postponed for next summer due to the coronavirus, then he can tick one of the requirements of the contract with Rangers. Subsequently, the Scots can recover their money from UEFA and FIFA,
After less than a year at the club Genk seemed to be delighted to offload Hagi, firstly on loan then for a cut price fee.
The transfer is still to be registered with the SFA with international clearance required.
