Andy Halliday doesn’t understand why his former club voted to finish the 2019/20 season to confirm Celtic as champions.

More than 80% of SPFL clubs voted to end the season based on average points per game sending Douglas Park towards the Statement Machine.

After the usual threats timed around the Season Ticket renewal campaign Park and Managing Director Stewart Robertson voted to end the season and pick up the prize money for second place even though Motherwell could have edged them into third spot.

The prize money was used to help with the final pay-roll due to Halliday, Wes Foderingham, Jon Flanagan and Jordan Rossiter but still left the former Bradford winger confused.

Listening to his TalkSPORT interview The Sun reported Halliday saying:

I’m not sure how you can award anyone a title when it’s not mathematically impossible for someone else to win it.

The same scenario goes for the teams who have been relegated. So there’s definitely an asterisk next to it from my point of view. The SPFL have made their decision and there’s nothing we can do about it.

After five years of failure as a player Halliday is hoping to return to Ibrox as manager of his club.

In the meantime he is expected to join Ally McCoist and Alex Rae on the media circuit, sharing his insights into the Scottish game.
