Three of Celtic’s 2019 project signings have been left out of the return to training at Lennoxtown.

Neil Lennon had training slots for 30 players today but Video Celts understands that Luca Connell, Lee O’Connor and Jonathan Afolabi haven’t been included in the training plans.

All three players came to Celtic from English football last summer, in the January transfer window O’Connell moved on loan to Partick Thistle with Afolabi joining Dunfermline Athletic. Connell was expected to go to Sunderland on loan but that move fell through.

With the strict regulations in place Lennon is restricted in the numbers that he can bring in to training with the Celtic Academy and Development Squad left in Lockdown.

On June 18 Celtic should find out their qualification route to the group stage of the Champions League with the pay-out from that competition more important than ever.

Scott Robertson, Ewan Henderson, Karamoko Dembele and Stephen Welsh have been included in the return to training but Connell, Afolabi and O’Connor will have to wait for a relaxation in regulations before they can get pre-season training underway.
