The Sun has published a picture of Aaron Hickey enjoying a Celtic victory at Ibrox in 2017.

The young defender is the most in-demand player in Scotland with Bayern Munich and Lazio credited with interest as well as some EPL sides and Celtic.

Hickey was part of the Celtic Academy until the summer of 2018 when he turned down a professional deal and moved to Hearts on a three year contract with the hoops holding a 30% sell-on clause.

Despite making over 30 first team appearances Hickey has resisted signing a new contract meaning that he’ll be on a fraction of the wages that team-mates Steven Naismith and Liam Boyce are picking up.

Hearts will be desperate to offload Hickey this summer knowing that the alternative is to see the player leave next summer for a token development fee- with Celtic due a fee for his Academy years.

Two of Hickey’s earliest appearances were against Celtic at the end of the 2018/19 season including the Treble Treble Scottish Cup Final.

When Hickey left Celtic Kieran Tierney looked like being the club’s left-back for years to come but after his departure for Arsenal Greg Taylor, Jonny Hayes and Boli Bolingoli enjoying varying degrees of success.

Moving to Celtic would give Hickey would give the defender, who turned 18 on Wednesday, a reasonable prospect of first team football, the other clubs interested are more likely to send him out on loan.
