Darragh MacAnthony has tweeted that Peterborough have received a bid from a Scottish club for Ivan Toney.

There is a better than 50-50 chance that Celtic are the club bidding for the striker.

Despite finishing outside of the Play Offs position Toney finished as top scorer in League One with Brentford expected to sign up the former Newcastle man.

Last week Peterborough Director of Football Barry Fry spoke to the Daily Mail with The Sun reporting:

We have given a club permission to speak to Ivan because they met our valuation It’s not Celtic but, out of courtesy, I let Celtic know what had happened. They asked to be kept informed and we informed them. I haven’t heard from them since then.

Those quotes were from last week which suggests that personal terms between the player and the ‘buying’ club weren’t met.

Celtic have been strongly linked with West Ham’s Albian Ajeti over the last few days with Neil Lennon looking to add extra firepower to his squad.
