SFA assistant referee Douglas Ross has announced that he will stand for election as the leader of the Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.

The Westminster MP for Moray regularly commutes to London with most weekends spent in the west of Scotland waving a flag on duty at SPFL matches.

Celtic fans have good reason to remember Wilson from their side’s visits to Ibrox. Despite the vast number of assistant referees available Ross has been on duty in December 2016, March 2018, December 2018 and May 2019.

In March 2018 his excitement got the better of him as he waved his flag over enthusiastically while screaming Red Card Red Card to Willie Collum.

In December 2018 he failed to spot a number of physical attacks by Alfredo Morelos on Celtic players with John Beaton getting through the match without even booking the Ibrox striker.

Ross isn’t on duty tomorrow but will be on the line at Ibrox next Sunday for the visit of St Mirren.

Willie Collum will referee Celtic v Hamilton, Alan Muir will be the referee away to Kilmarnock with Beaton in charge away to St Mirren on August 12.
