The SFA are in the spotlight to see if they will suspend Ryan Kent domestically for being sent off against Lyon in last night’s friendly win for Steven Gerrard’s side.

Late on in the first half the former Liverpool starlet was given a straight red card for raising his hands to an opponent.

A year ago Jozo Simunovic was sent off in a frendly match against St Gallen, picking up on it the SFA suspended the Celtic defender for the opening SPFL fixtures against St Johnstone and Motherwell.

Last year The Sun reported:

Referee Fedayi San reported the dismissal to the Swiss FA who have since informed the SFA that Simunovic was given his marching orders for serious foul play.

He is now suspended for Celtic’s opener at home to St Johnstone and the Scottish champions’ second league outing of the season away at Motherwell.

It seems fairly clear cut that the rule that was applied to Simunovic a year ago is repeated with Kent but over the years nothing inside the SFA has been predictable.

When Ryan Christie was attacked in the genitals by Alfredo Morelos the Colombian escaped without any punishment, when the incident was reversed a year later the Celtic midfielder was given a retrospective two match ban.

Steven Gerrard’s side start their domestic season away to Aberdeen followed by a home match against St Mirren.
