Celtic are reported to be in advanced talks to sign Albian Ajeti from West Ham.

Anthony Joseph, News Editor at Sky Sports News tweeted the development late last night with the start of the SPFL season less than a week away.

The striking situation at Celtic is one of the most fluid at the club even though Neil Lennon currently has four live options.

Odsonne Edouard is the undoubted first choice but until the Transfer Window closes in October there will always be the prospect of a big money bid arriving for the French u-21 international striker.

Patryk Klimala has been talked up during pre-season training but is still unproven with just one goal in a pre-season friendly against Nice to his name. Vakoun Bayo is in a similar position despite having been at Celtic since January 2019.

Leigh Griffiths remains a dilemma with Neil Lennon’s opinion changing sharply over the course of 10 days with the striker expected to be involved in today’s friendly against Hibs.

Ajeti was a team-mate of Moi Elyounoussi at Basel but has had a miserable season at West Ham, making nine substitute appearances in the EPL plus three cup appearances without scoring.

The chance of a season at Celtic could be convenient for all but fitness would be an issue with the 23-year-old in full training with West Ham and involved in their match day squads since the season resumed.

Celtic require someone ready to play straight away, despite the Lockdown break it is likely that Ajeti and other EPL players will need some sort of break with the Scottish season running from August until May with no winter break.
