The SPFL fixture list appears to have forgotten about Celtic reaching the group stage of the Champions League.
UEFA has scheduled the Play Off stage for September 23 and 30 with the SPFL sending Neil Lennon’s side away to St Johnstone on Friday October 2- two days after a potential Play Off second leg.
Why the St Johnstone match couldn’t be played on Saturday October 3, with a lunch time or tea-time kick off, is unknown although Sunday October 4 is probably out of bounds due to international fixtures.
Celtic have failed at the third qualifying round in each of the last two seasons, this seasons the first three qualifying rounds will be one off ties.
If Celtic drop out of the Champions League they could be involved in a Europa League Play Off with those matches on September 24 and October 1- the night before the televised match away to St Johnstone. Following the international break Celtic Park will host the first Glasgow derby of the season on Saturday October 17.
