A Ukrainian blogger has claimed that Mykyta Burda is in France to hold signing talks with Celtic.

The 24-year-old central defender plays for Dinamo Kiev with the Ukrainian league resuming last weekend.

The Twitter account is almost exclusively in Ukrainian with no obvious reason for wanting to create interest from Celtic fans.

With Jozo Simunovic not offered a new contract Celtic go into the first of their pre-season fixtures tonight with just two recognised central defenders- Chris Jullien and Kris Ajer. Nir Bitton and Hatem Abd Elhamed were used as cover last season with Stephen Welsh promoted into the first team squad following his debut last season at Hamilton.

Although Celtic’s previous signing from Ukraine, Marian Shved, has failed to make any impact since signing in January 2018 it is a market that Celtic are likely to find affordable.

So far Celtic haven’t added to the squad that won the 2019/20 Premiership title but it’s believed that a new goalkeeper and central defender are Neil Lennon’s transfer priorities.
