The Daily Record is trying to create a transfer race for Alfredo Morelos despite no known interest in the Ibrox striker.

Earlier this month Everton were reported to have joined Lazio and Napoli in the (non-existent) race for the former HJK Helsinki starlet.

Now it is Lille and West Brom that are being linked/keeping tabs/preparing an offer for Morelos who has scored one goal in 2020 while serving suspensions from UEFA, the SFA and his own club.

This morning Record readers are being informed:

Lille are set to return to Rangers with a £17 million bid for Alfredo Morelos – with Premiership new boys West Bromwich Albion waiting in the wings and preparing a rival offer.

The French side have already agreed terms with the Colombian striker but they have still to thrash out a fee with the Ibrox outfit.

It shouldn’t be to difficult to agree terms for Morelos who has been taunted for three years of failure to win a medal or score a goal against Celtic.

There has been no comment from Ibrox since a French Twitter account claimed on Sunday that personal terms have been agreed.

With Jermain Defoe and Nikola Katic both out injured Steven Gerrard’s squad is beginning to look on the thin side with Jon McLaughlin, Calvin Bassey and Leon Balogun added to last season’s losers.
